Figure 02 was unveiled in August 2024 with a custom AI compute stack and is being piloted at BMW's Spartanburg plant for end-of-line vehicle assembly tasks.
Figure 02 builds on a partnership with OpenAI for high-level reasoning and a custom vision-language-action model called Helix for low-level control. The robot exposes 16 degrees of freedom per hand, an order of magnitude more cameras than Figure 01, and onboard inference compute roughly 3x its predecessor's.
