The humanoid robot market

Funding flows, deployment volumes and geographic patterns in humanoid robotics. We update this overview as new investment rounds, product launches and pilot announcements land.

2026 snapshot

By mid-2026, public capital deployed into humanoid robotics has crossed $5B in cumulative funding. Production is dominated by US-based companies (Figure, Tesla, Boston Dynamics, Apptronik, Agility) and Chinese vendors (Unitree, Fourier, Kepler, Agibot). Europe contributes mainly research labs and integrators rather than full-stack OEMs.

Investment & funding

The largest 2024 round was Figure AI's $675M Series B at a $2.6B valuation. 1X Technologies, Apptronik and Sanctuary AI all closed nine-figure rounds in 2024–2025. Strategic investors (Microsoft, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Samsung, Bezos Expeditions) appear in nearly every major cap table. Humanoid robotics is being treated as the next platform bet alongside foundation models.

Geographic split

Three blocs dominate. The US has the deepest capital and partnerships (Hyundai-Boston Dynamics, BMW-Figure, Mercedes-Apptronik, Amazon-Agility). China has the most aggressive cost-down strategy via Unitree, Fourier and a wave of state-supported startups. Europe is investor-light and integration-heavy, with Pal Robotics, Engineered Arts and academic spinouts as anchor points.

Outlook

Two trajectories to watch: (1) cost-down on Chinese platforms compressing the entire market's price expectations toward consumer affordability; (2) integration deals between US OEMs and large industrial customers (Hyundai, BMW, Amazon) producing reference deployments that drive enterprise adoption.
