Founded in 2022 by Brett Adcock (previously a co-founder at Archer Aviation), Figure AI raised a $675M Series B in 2024 from Microsoft, NVIDIA, Jeff Bezos, OpenAI and others. Its first commercial pilot is at BMW's Spartanburg plant.

Figure designs the robot, the AI stack and the data pipeline together. The current generation, Figure 02, ships with a custom vision-language-action model called Helix that handles low-level manipulation, while higher-level reasoning leans on partnerships with OpenAI. The strategy is to deploy in narrow industrial environments first, build a data flywheel from real deployments, and expand outward.
