Dexterous industrial humanoid that learns new tasks in under 24 hours.

Phoenix

Summary

Phoenix is Sanctuary AI's flagship humanoid robot designed for dexterous industrial manipulation, capable of learning new tasks in under 24 hours using the proprietary Carbon AI system.

Phoenix stands 170 cm tall and weighs 70 kg, featuring 20-DOF hands with haptic sensing capable of detecting forces as low as ~5 mN and a 25 kg payload capacity. Generation 7 was unveiled in April 2024, followed by Generation 8 in late 2024/early 2025; Gen 8 transitioned to a wheeled base after Sanctuary AI determined that bipedal legs were too fragile for the robot's heavy, precision-focused torso. The robot's intelligence is driven by the Carbon control system, which combines symbolic reasoning, large language models, and reinforcement learning to enable rapid skill acquisition. Sanctuary AI has partnered with Magna International for automotive manufacturing trials and with Microsoft to leverage cloud AI infrastructure. Pricing has not been officially disclosed; third-party estimates place the cost between $65,000 and $250,000 per unit.
