Summary
Ameca is Engineered Arts' flagship humanoid, first revealed in December 2021 and demonstrated at CES 2022. It is built for human-robot interaction, with the most lifelike facial expression of any commercially available humanoid rather than for walking or industrial work.
Ameca offers 61 degrees of freedom, with around 25–27 dedicated to facial motion through Engineered Arts' Mesmer technology — the highest facial expressiveness of any deployed humanoid. Its grey, deliberately genderless silicone face and hands keep the focus on motion and expression rather than realism. The robot runs the Tritium operating system, which Generation 3 (shown at ICRA 2025) extends with stronger hand dexterity and large-language-model integration for natural conversation. Ameca is not designed to walk; it is used in museums, attractions, research labs and corporate events, and sells from roughly $130,000.
