Pollen Robotics

French maker of the open-source Reachy humanoid, now part of Hugging Face.

Pollen Robotics, founded in Bordeaux in 2016 by Matthieu Lapeyre and Pierre Rouanet, builds the open-source Reachy line of humanoid manipulators aimed at AI and robot-learning labs. In April 2025 it was acquired by Hugging Face, tightly linking its hardware to the open robot-learning ecosystem.

Pollen's flagship, Reachy 2, is a bimanual mobile manipulator with two human-scale 7-DOF arms and an expressive head, designed to be fully programmable in Python and reproducible by the open-source community. The Hugging Face acquisition positions Reachy as a reference body for the LeRobot framework and for sharing manipulation datasets and policies. Unlike most industrial humanoid makers, Pollen leads with openness and research accessibility rather than factory deployments, and Reachy is widely used in universities and corporate AI labs.
