Rugged humanoids built for heavy industry

Persona AI is developing humanoid robots purpose-built for demanding industrial environments such as shipbuilding and welding.

Founded in 2024 by Nic Radford — formerly the lead on NASA's Valkyrie humanoid program — and CTO Jerry Pratt, who previously worked at Figure AI, Persona AI is focused on rugged humanoids for heavy industry. The Houston-based company is targeting use cases such as shipyard welding, and has signed a memorandum of understanding with HD Hyundai to explore deploying robots in that context. The company raised an oversubscribed $27M pre-seed round in May 2025. Functional prototypes are targeted for late 2025, with commercial deployments planned from 2027. Detailed technical specifications have not yet been disclosed.
