Intel RealSense
Depth cameras spun out of Intel, now focused on robotics and humanoids
Intel RealSense was spun out of Intel as an independent company in 2025 with a $50M Series A, continuing to develop RealSense depth cameras with a renewed focus on robotics and humanoid applications.
Originally developed within Intel, the RealSense depth-camera product line has built a broad developer community across robotics, drones, and augmented reality over more than a decade. The 2025 spin-out gave the business independent focus and fresh capital, allowing it to align its roadmap more tightly with the accelerating demand from humanoid robot developers who need compact, affordable depth sensing for navigation and interaction. RealSense cameras offer stereo depth, RGB, and IMU data in a single module, reducing integration complexity for robot designers. As an independent company, Intel RealSense can move faster on robotics-specific features and partnerships without the constraints of a large semiconductor parent.
